Building On Strong Brands, Local Economy And Demographics, Dunkin' Donuts And Baskin-robbins Target Detroit

Interested Investors Invited to Meet at Marriott Hotel in Romulus, MI

DETROIT, MICHIGAN (Monday, October 07, 2002) - Allied Domecq Quick Service Restaurants (ADQSR) today announced plans to increase development of co-branded Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins stores in the Detroit area. Interested multi-unit operators and investors with the financial means and expertise necessary to successfully develop and run multi-brand locations are invited to an Open House at the Marriott Hotel in Romulus on October 16, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. to learn more about the franchise opportunity from corporate development, business, licensing, training and marketing executives.

Residents of Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Sanilac, Washtenaw and Wayne counties will soon enjoy much greater access to some of the nation's favorite coffee, donuts and ice cream. In order to execute ADQSR's growth strategy, which includes developing multiple points of distribution in the area over the next few years, qualified multi-unit operators and investors are now being sought to take advantage of this opportunity.

Dunkin' Donuts anchors ADQSR's brand presence in Detroit with 55 locations throughout the greater metropolitan area. Dunkin' Donuts also has an additional 15 locations co-branded with Baskin-Robbins. The strength of these two brands, paired with favorable demographic factors, makes Detroit ripe with opportunity for franchisees, according to Gary Hubert, ADQSR's Senior Market Executive for Detroit.

Developing co-branded locations, Hubert adds, will provide operators with the opportunity to leverage their investment in real estate, labor and equipment. "Our model allows franchisees to put a great combination of businesses on locations," says Hubert. "Each concept typically caters to a different daypart breakfast and between-meal snacks with Dunkin' Donuts and dessert with Baskin-Robbins -- so pairing these two brands under one roof helps keep customer traffic flowing through much of the day."

Franchise opportunities for co-branded Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins are now available for qualified candidates with $500,000 net worth ($300,000 liquid) as well as the willingness and expertise necessary to successfully develop and operate locations featuring both brands.

With over 5,000 units in the United States and 31 other countries around the world, Dunkin' Donuts has established a worldwide reputation for quality, freshness and convenience. It is the largest coffee and baked goods chain in the world, providing premier coffee, bagels, donuts and other related products since 1950. Baskin-Robbins is one of the world's largest and most beloved retailers of frozen treats and a pioneer in ice cream franchising. Since 1945, the company has created more than 700 different flavors and has grown to include more than 4,400 units.
