Dangelo Sandwich Shops Retains Local Realtors To Facilitate Penetration Of Target Markets
DEDHAM, MASSACHUSETTS (Friday, April 25, 2003) -
DAngelo Sandwich Shops, operator and franchisor of more than 200 quick-service restaurants in the Northeast, has entered into agreements with commercial realtors in several markets to help execute its first major franchise-expansion program in more than 10 years. The companys strategic growth plan calls for development of 400 units in existing and new markets over the next four to five years. Initially, new stores will open in existing markets throughout New England as well as in the expansion markets of Hartford, New Haven and Fairfield Counties in Connecticut, and Albany and Long Island in New York.
Director of Real Estate Mike Rodelle explained that in pursuing that goal, DAngelo will open freestanding locations as well as units in strip centers, food courts and regional shopping centers, and will rely on the local expertise of these four agencies to help identify the most qualified sites for development.
Weve established relationships with organizations that combine the greatest local-market knowledge and experience in supporting development of quick-service restaurants such as ours, said Rodelle. The agencies will inform us of new opportunities and will review locations when we are approached directly with offers. Based on their recommendations, well complete the process of securing the best locations.
The agencies and their respective areas of responsibility include:
• Garrick-Aug Associates, Inc., New York, N.Y., will support the companys efforts to develop up to 25 locations throughout Long Island;
• Northeast Retail Leasing & Management, LLC, Windsor, Conn. , will identify prime locations in both Hartford, Conn., where the company plans to open 10 locations, and western Massachusetts;
• CB Richard Ellis, Albany, N.Y., will assist the company in securing property in the Greater Albany market, where it plans to open 10 locations; and
• Highland Property Group, LLC, Brookline, Mass., will facilitate the buildout of DAngelo and sister company Papa Ginos pizza restaurants to maximize both chains presence in the Greater Boston area, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
We see this as a great incentive for investors to consider opening a DAngelo franchise, said Rodelle. In addition to supporting our company-store growth, it will allow us to create a reserve of properties with strong potential for our concept to present to qualified prospects ready to open new DAngelo shops.
DAngelo is currently celebrating the success of six units in travel centers along the Massachusetts Turnpike and another in Bostons South Station Bus Terminal, all of which opened over the past two years. The company also was named one of the top 25 quick-service restaurant chains based on average unit volume growth in a recent QSR Magazine ranking, having recorded an extra 4.1 percent in sales per unit from one year to the next.
