Children's Orchard Launches Wepaycash.com To Buy 'Gently Used' Kids' Clothes From Parents On-line
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (Wednesday, March 01, 2000) -
While most e-commerce is geared towards selling products on-line, Children's Orchard, (CO), the original retailer of upscale kids' resale stores has launched A website with the opposite directive. According to company COO, Ray Jahn, the website is geared towards buying high quality "gently used" kids' clothes from parents for cash.
"Parents who don't have Children's Orchard stores in their area can now sell their 'gently used' kids' clothes via an Internet-based process to CO stores for cash. For franchisees, it's another marketing tool to obtain more inventory and drive more business to their stores. It also gives us a presence in areas we plan to be in, but are not in yet," says Jahn.
Would-be sellers click on a map, which takes them to information about their nearest Children's Orchard store. In areas of the country where there are no stores, users will be directed to "at-large" buyers. Once there, they will be given directions on how to sell their "gently used" kids' clothing to Children's Orchard franchisees by shipping them to buyers for cash. Items that cannot be accepted will be donated to the Children's Orchard sponsored Family Builder's Adoption Network, (FBAN), and local charities.
Founded in 1980, Children's Orchard franchise stores buy and sell quality "gently used" clothes, toys and equipment for kids under age 7. Prices are typically 50-80% less than retail.
Having recently signed a franchise agreement to open the 100th store, the company expects sales of $21 million in 2000.
