Children's Orchard Targets Women And Minorities To Become Franchise Owners Through The National Minority Franchise Initiative
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (Monday, March 27, 2000) -
Children's Orchard (CO), retailer of upscale resale franchise stores that buy and sell quality gently used clothing, toys and equipment is targeting women and minorities to become franchise owners in metropolitan Atlanta through the National Minority Franchise Initiative (NMFI). Children's Orchard Chief Operating Officer Ray Jahn will be a panelist and speaker at a National Minority Franchising Initiative (NMFI) seminar scheduled for April 15, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., at the City Hall East.
The NMFI was developed to educate minority audiences about the realistic pros and cons of franchising and to expose them to those franchise systems that encourage and support the inclusion of minorities in their systems. In addition to Children's Orchard, other franchise sponsors include AAMCO, 7-Eleven, Bass Hotel and Resorts, FastSigns, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, Postnet, GNC, Meinke Discount Mufflers, Pizza Hut, Star Mart (Texaco), Coverall Cleaning Concepts and Radio Shack.
The NMFI is scheduled to hold franchise seminars in major metro markets in 2000. Atlanta is the first city of a seven market tour. Other cities include Los Angles, Boston, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia.
"Besides the socio-economic dynamics of the minority market in Atlanta, the city is kid central. For Children's Orchard franchisees this means a wealth of opportunities," says Jahn. "In addition, the outlook for retail franchise opportunities for minority franchisees is excellent. According to the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce data on retail growth and job creation, Atlanta will be second to none in the 21st century.
"Persons interested in a Children's Orchard franchise opportunity will find that we offer a solid training program and require a minimal investment to get the ball rolling," says Jahn.
"Children's Orchard franchise stores are already attractive to women and minorities," says Josephine Gonzalez, franchise development director, Children's Orchard. "The majority of our owners are women. Our franchisees in Detroit, L.A. and Boston have a steady stream of minority customers. Through the targeted efforts of the National Minority Franchising Initiative we believe aspiring minority entrepreneurs will find a definite demand for Children's Orchard stores in Atlanta," says Gonzalez.
Children's Orchard is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with offices in Boston, Massachusetts and Lake Forest, California. Founded in 1980, CO is the original upscale resale franchise in the U.S.
