Seasoned Restaurateur Ron Wahl Adds Beef `o Bradys To `franchise Empire
Family Sports Pub Chain Inks Multi-Unit Deal with Former Protégé to Dave Thomas
TAMPA BAY, FLORIDA (Tuesday, May 10, 2005) -
Beef `O Bradys, a fast-growing national family sports pub franchise that focuses on community involvement, announced today it has signed a deal with noted multi-concept, multi-unit restaurateur Ron Wahl to open four Beef `O Bradys Family Sports Pub locations in the Southeast.
Wahl began his restaurant career in 1968 as a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken under the tutelage of then KFC franchisee, the late Dave Thomas, the famed founder of Wendys. Then, as Vice President of Operations for Wendys of South Florida, Wahl built and operated 20 Wendys in the Miami market and later went on to open 20 Godfathers Pizza franchises, selling them in 1984. He moved on to become president of Maxies Hamburgers, a drive-thru concept developed in Tallahassee which grew to 17 units (sold to Checkers/Rallys in 1992.) Wahl currently owns and operates 20 Papa Johns Pizza locations in the Southeastern United States.
Ron Wahl is a welcome addition to the Beefs family, to say the least, said Nick Vojnovic, President of Family Sports Concepts, the parent company of Beef `O Bradys. I think it speaks volumes when someone like Ron believes and invests in our concept. It raises the bar for our franchise system and says a lot about our credibility as a growing brand.
The agreement calls for Wahl and his associates to take ownership of two current Beefs locations in Tallahassee, with the rights to develop a third in the area. The newly signed deal also includes an area development agreement for a location in Albany, GA.
We are impressed by the philanthropic culture, community spirit and family-centered values of Beef `O Bradys, Wahl said. I look forward to developing relationships with local leaders, sports teams, youth groups and other community organizations and living up to the reputations Beefs has built up as genuine partners with communities around the nation.
About Beef `O Bradys
Beef 'O' Brady's is a national chain of family sports pubs that achieves its success by building relationships with the local schools, youth sports leagues, and other community organizations in each and every Beef 'O' Brady's neighborhood market. Opening 38 new restaurants in 2004 alone, Beef `O Bradys is on the fast track to national growth. By the end of 2005, 50 new locations are set to open bringing their total to 210.
Ironically, despite what the name implies, Beef 'O' Brady's is actually best known for its Buffalo-style chicken wings. In the early days of its inception, founder Jim Mellody tried featuring several different "beef" menu items, but soon found that his customers loved his recipe for Buffalo-style chicken wings. In fact, today his sauce is bottled under a private label and is sold on the Beef's website.
Beef 'O' Brady's menu also features a variety of healthy choices, including an array of salads, such as its popular grouper salad. Beefs also serves chicken fingers, a variety of sandwiches including a Buffalo-style chicken sandwich, baskets, such as fish & chips and fried shrimp, a new half pound steak burger, The kid appeal of this unique concept is reinforced by a very moderately priced kids menu and video games.
