Dreammaker Bath & Kitchen Offers Caps Certification Classes

WACO, TEXAS (Thursday, November 11, 2004) - DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen by WorldwideR has secured its own CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) classes in a unique agreement with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and will host CAPS classes with an NAHB instructor at DreamMaker's corporate headquarters on Dec. 2-3.

DreamMaker franchise owners will have an opportunity to take two days of classes, focusing on "Working with and Marketing to Older Adults" and "Home Modifications." The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist designation program teaches the technical, business management and customer services skills essential to competing in the fastest-growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.

"This is a one-of-kind opportunity for our franchise owners, who are interested in serving their older customers with proper remodeling options," said Doug Dwyer, president and owner of DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen.

Dwyer added that because the U.S. population is living longer and more independent of assisted care, remodelers are giving more attention to the needs and modifications available for this age group. As a result, the CAPS courses given by the NAHB are rising in popularity and are often booked to capacity.

DreamMaker's unique agreement with the NAHB, however, will offer franchisees unique one-on-one interaction with noted CAPS instructor Vince Butler. And because DreamMaker's Level 1 Business Training Course has been recognized by the NAHB as meeting the standards of the CAPS introductory business management course, franchise owners will be able to focus on a two-day concise program to receive the CAPS designation.

"This is a welcomed endorsement of the level of understanding our franchise owners have and what they need in order to better serve their older customers," Dwyer said.

DreamMaker franchise owners who complete the CAPS classes and also register with the NAHB and apply for graduation will be able to use the CAPS designation on marketing materials.

"This is just one more advantage to being part of the DreamMaker franchise system," Dwyer said. While he added that DreamMaker will make no profit on the program, he stressed that the certification was important enough to the continuing education and enhancement of DreamMaker's services to make it available on a more focused business level at corporate headquarters.

The CAPS program was developed through a collaborative effort by the NAHB RemodelorsT Council, the AARP, NAHB Research Center , and NAHB Senior Housing Council.
