Servicemaster Clean Names Nba Star Shane Battier As Company Spokesperson

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (Friday, November 11, 2005) - ServiceMaster Clean has selected Memphis Grizzlies forward Shane Battier as the new spokesperson for ServiceMaster Clean, a member of the ServiceMaster family of companies (NYSE:SVM). Battier is represented by Lon Babby and Jim Tanner of the law firm of Williams & Connolly.
As the new face for ServiceMaster Clean, Battier will work to promote and initiate franchise opportunities to entrepreneurs across the country. Also, five ServiceMaster Clean franchises will be donated by the company and awarded by Battier to individuals who display a drive to succeed as an independent business owner.

"ServiceMaster Clean and Shane share the same passion for changing the lives of our friends and neighbors through hard work in both our professional and personal lives," said David Messenger, Vice President Market Expansion. "Shane is recognized around the world as a star on the hardwood, but it's his devotion to the community and his willingness to help others that make him a star off the court as well. He's a natural fit as our spokesman."

With the new partnership, Battier becomes the second spokesperson for the 50-year-old company. ABC's legendary radio news anchor Paul Harvey held the role more than 10 years ago. In addition to serving as the face of the home service giant, Battier also will serve on the ServiceMaster Clean diversity council.

Battier was selected by the Grizzlies in the first round, sixth overall, of the 2001 NBA draft and was named to the NBA's All-Rookie First Team in 2001-2002. A graduate of Duke University, Battier was a national basketball star while playing for the Blue Devils. Battier won numerous awards throughout his collegiate career and in 2001 alone was named the National Player of the Year and received the Naismith and Wooden Awards, which are presented to the top basketball player in the country.
