Cousins Subs Introduces Two New Bread Flavors
MENOMONEE FALLS, WISCONSIN (Monday, July 01, 2002) -
Fans of Cousins Subs(R) have long declared that it is the bread that truly sets the sandwich chain apart from its competition. Beginning this week, those Cousins Subs connoisseurs will have something extra to smile about -- the addition of two new breads to Cousins Subs menu. Available on any one of Cousins Subs' sandwich combinations featuring only the best meats and cheeses, the zesty Garlic Herb and oh so cheesy Parmesan Asiago compliment the company's current bread line-up of Italian and Wheat. And because all Cousins Subs bread is baked fresh onsite each day, the flavor is unbeatable.
"Before we first introduced Cousins Subs, we worked very hard to perfect the bread, knowing that that was where the secret to an extraordinary and authentic submarine sandwich was found," said Cousins Subs co-founder and president, William F. Specht. "That hard work paid off because we now say 'better bread, better subs' and know that our customers agree. The introduction of two new flavors simply allows us to enhance that position. Now we get to be known as the guys with 'more better bread'."
Beginning this week, Garlic Herb and Parmesan Asiago bread is available throughout Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. California and Arizona will be experiencing the new tastes in mid-July. All other markets will have "more better bread" by July 22nd.
"The sandwich business is extremely competitive. Therefore, it was essential that Cousins Subs begin offering alternative taste options," adds David Hintz, director of marketing and strategic planning at Cousins Subs. "Because we're known for having better bread, we waited to roll-out the new flavors until they were just right. Based on the market tests that we've done with it, our customers find it delicious."
Hintz says that the company is working on additional bread flavors, as well as new limited time promotional sub sandwiches to accompany the new flavors.
Started in Milwaukee in 1972 by cousins William Specht and James Sheppard, Cousins subs now owns 41 company stores and 135 franchise locations. Cousins Subs is located in 10 states across the United States. Their Italian-style submarine sandwiches served on fresh-baked bread have tickled the taste buds of millions of Americans. New locations are springing up across the United States, with the newest additions in the Los Angeles and San Diego markets. Cousins Subs has one company store and approximately 200 franchise stores under development.
