Compuchild Gets New Ownership

ROCHESTER, INDIANA (Tuesday, May 28, 2002) - Founded in 1994, CompuChild is the nation's leader in preschool computer education. Together with nearly 100 independently owned franchise territories located throughout the United States, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico, CompuChild is dedicated to preparing preschoolers for the academic challenges of tomorrow through computer education today.

CompuChild's corporate office is located in Rochester, Indiana. The company is owned by Rob and Theresa Shafer, who purchased the company from its founder in March 2001. The Shafers operated a CompuChild franchise in Myrtle Beach, SC from 1997-1999 before relocating to Rochester.

Theresa Shafer graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis with a BS in Elementary Education. In addition, Theresa holds a Masters Degree in Education from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. She has ten years experience teaching at the elementary level, as well as two years experience teaching technology courses for educators at Coastal Carolina University in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Rob Shafer is also a graduate of Butler with a degree in Business Administration. He has an extensive background in business management and operations. Rob has owned and operated two successful businesses prior to committing himself full-time to the operation of CompuChild.

The Shafers are committed to teaching children worldwide about computers in a positive environment that emphasizes collaboration and cooperation. With constant advancements in technology, CompuChild is devoted to continually researching and developing educational content that is relevant to current technologies.
