Captain D’s Opens Second International Location

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE (Tuesday, November 23, 2004) - For the second time in 18 months, the Captain is setting sail for the Far East . Captain D's Seafood announced today that it has launched its second international location with the opening of its newest restaurant in Osan, South Korea . The food court unit, located on Osan Air Base, began serving American servicemen and women on November 15.

The South Korean restaurant is one of seven franchised restaurants that the Army/Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is licensed to operate for Captain D's. The company opened its first international unit in Okinawa, Japan, in June of 2003.

"Not everyone can just walk on to a military base and open shop. We've had a great relationship with the Army/Air Force Exchange Service over the past few years, and they appreciate the service that we provide the soldiers and airmen and their families," says Ron Walker, president and chief operating officer of Captain D's. "And obviously, it's a great source of pride for our company to be able to offer our food and hospitality to the men and women who serve our country."

In addition to the Osan, South Korea , location, Captain D's also opened a new location at Ft. Hood , Texas , on November 16. The Ft. Hood restaurant is also located inside a food court.

"Our military locations do extremely well because so many of the soldiers have southern roots and are familiar with our brand," says Bill Nelson, vice president of franchise operations for Captain D's. "From a development standpoint, the relationship we have built with AAFES has allowed our team to come up with flexible prototype designs. From smaller kitchens that fit into AAFES food courts to nontraditional as well as end-cap and free-standing buildings that seat 38 to 128 customers, we have a prototype to fit any development strategy. That, in turn, helps all of our franchisees."

AAFES currently operates franchise locations at Ft. Bragg , N.C. , Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio , Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield , Calif. , and Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas .

Captain D's and AAFES are exploring development opportunities in Hawaii , Alaska , Germany and several other locations within the continental United States .
