Dozen Women's Fitness Centers To Open Locally

SACRAMENTO (Friday, March 12, 2004) - Butterfly Life, a health and fitness franchise based in San Ramon, plans to open at least 12 locations in the Sacramento area this year, a spokeswoman said Friday. One franchisee purchased the right to open 10 in Sacramento. Other fitness centers are in the works for Vacaville, Davis, West Sacramento and Fairfield.


Butterfly Life calls itself "the first and only fitness franchise for women that offers an integrated approach to addressing women's fitness and health ... by combining nutrition and exercise with psychology, beauty and fashion."

Members are offered a 30-minute exercise circuit, "custom fitness equipment," group exercise classes, access to advisory board experts, with a lecture series on VHS and DVD for use outside of the fitness center.

The Sacramento-area sales, give the company a total of 32 franchises in California and Georgia since its launch in December 2003.

The first of several Atlanta-area locations is scheduled to open Saturday.
