Beaner’s Gourmet Coffee Works To Raise $5,000 For Local Lansing Homeless Center

LANSING, MICH (Monday, December 19, 2005) - BEANER’S Gourmet Coffee is working on raising $5,000 for the Volunteers of America by Christmas day. The Lansing-based coffee house franchise grabbed the opportunity to help the Volunteers of America raise money for the New Hope Day Center for the Homeless located in Lansing, Mich.

BEANER’S thought rather than asking customers for money, they would donate one dollar from the sale of any BEANER’S mug to the Volunteers of America. Citadel Broadcasting teamed with BEANER’S and ran advertisements across six of their radio stations to promote the fundraiser and make customers aware of the opportunity to help out.

“The Volunteers of America are doing a wonderful thing for the Lansing community with the New Hope Day Center,” said Mike McFall, BEANER’S President. “We wanted to help raise money for this much-needed facility and we wanted to make it easy for our customers to contribute.”

BEANER’S stores throughout the greater Lansing-area have been selling mugs to raise money for the Volunteers of America since December 1. The fundraiser will end on Christmas. The goal is to raise $5,000 in this one month period.

The mug sales will be tallied at the end of this month and BEANER’S representatives will issue a check to the Volunteers of America on Friday, January 6 at their new facility, the New Hope Day Center.

The New Hope Day Center for the Homeless will provide housing resources, clothing vouchers, life skills training, substance abuse education, counseling, health services, employment training and many other important services.
