Beaner's Gourmet Coffee Stores Will Offer Fair Trade Certified Coffee Beginning Next Week

LANSING, MICH (Wednesday, August 17, 2005) - BEANER'S Gourmet Coffee stores will carry Fair Trade Certified coffee beginning next week. It may take until the first week of September for all stores to get their supply in; however, distribution of the Fair Trade Certified coffee has begun. This new addition to BEANER'S' coffee selection will benefit farm families in developing countries and the environment.



Fair Trade is a system that enables family farmers in developing countries to compete in the global marketplace. Fair Trade Certification provides various guarantees: that farmers are given fair pricing for their products, environmental care was taken and a quality product was produced.



Some of the Fair Trade Certified coffee that BEANER'S stores will carry will also be certified organic. Organically produced coffee beans are grown using natural fertilizers and nutrients rather than harmful pesticides and herbicides. Organic farming is very beneficial to the environment.



"Potentially BEANER'S will benefit from carrying Fair Trade coffee in many ways," says Bob Fish, CEO. "Not only will we will have a quality coffee, but we can be sure that fair farming was practiced."



BEANER'S carries 12 select coffees in a variety of flavors and roasts. BEANER'S will carry Fair Trade Certified coffee in Organic French Roast, Black and Tan and Rwanda. Look for the Fair Trade Certified label on in-store signage.



Two new additions have been made to BEANER'S' tea selection, also. Stores will offer an organic white tea called BEANER'S White Nectar Tea and a tisane called Yerba Mate. Both teas are high in antioxidants and offer new flavors to the existing tea line-up.
