Customized Product

The Science

Every person looks different, yet remarkably, the DNA of any two persons is 99.9 percent identical. Recent advances in science, however, show the tiny differences in DNA are what make each one of us a unique human being. These differences are called SNPS (pronounced “snips”), the scientific abbreviation for single nucleotide polymorphisms. It is our “advantaged” and “disadvantaged” SNPS that either protect or fail to protect our skin against deficiencies.



The Process

A simple swab from the inner cheek is taken at Sôna MedSpa and sent to the laboratory of our partner, Dermagenetics, where it is analyzed. Then a customized skin care product is formulated with ingredients to meet each client’s specific needs. Specifically, the lab examines five things: 1) Overall skin health by measuring the genetic propensity for collagen breakdown, 2) Photo aging, 3) Wrinkling, 4) Skin aging and 5) The skin’s ability to tolerate environment pollutants.

Every step in the process is private, with samples recorded by a numerical bar code. The laboratory does not know the identity of any client and original samples are destroyed. Clients receive their customized products within three to four weeks.



The Product

The customized product is labeled Dermagenetics DNA UltraCustom Especially for Sôna MedSpa, Night Renewal Anti-Wrinkle/Firming. Retail price for the initial test and product is $359 (30 ml). Subsequent product reorders are $159 (also 30 ml).
