Abrakadoodle tapped to test Dream-Makers curriculum for Crayola
RESTON, VA (Friday, May 20, 2005) -
Abrakadoodle, an innovative franchisor in childrens art education, will be testing the upcoming release of the 2006 Crayola® Dream-Makers® curriculum in selected Abrakadoodle markets. Dream-Makers is a standards-based resource guide and program, which provides classroom and art teachers hands-on activities that encourage students to devise strategies and create original creative works (see www.crayola.com/educators/dreammakers/whatis.cfm).
Abrakadoodle franchisees (known as Doodlers) who will launch the pilot program in May include: Jeff Houck of Dublin, Ohio; Sue Walia of Northern Virginia; Dan Hascall of West Linn, Oregon; and Linda Schaeffer of Moorestown, New Jersey.
Abrakadoodle art students are delighted to participate in this great educational program, said Mary Rogers, Founder & CEO of Abrakadoodle. Its exciting to know that original art produced by children in our classes from Ohio to Oregon may help inspire creativity in those educators and individuals making use of Crayolas Dream-Makers materials.
Abrakadoodle is a leader in comprehensive art instruction for kids, engaging children in such activities as painting, mosaics, sculpture and collage while introducing art technique, vocabulary and style. Under the direction of Lori Schue, artist and author of the Artworks for Kids book series, Abrakadoodle creates imaginative lesson plans and incorporates a wide range of quality Crayola art materials.
Abrakadoodle is an ideal partner to help test our Dream-Makers curriculum because of its experience in delivering quality art programs for children, commented Nancy Debellis, Manager of Educational Products of Binney & Smith. Its art education classes emphasize process learning while cultivating individual expression.
Binney & Smith, maker of Crayola products, launched the Crayola Dream-Makers program in 1984 to support the creative development and learning of kindergarten through sixth grade children through art activities. The program spotlights the creative work of children through exhibitions of student artwork. Dream-Makers curriculum provides art techniques including full color examples of children's work.
