Chosen for their "straight to the point" style, Canadian Business Franchise magazine posed these questions to several Booster Juice franchisees. They are the three key questions one is advised to ask of existing franchisees when researching a particular franchisor's concept. Booster Juice franchisor Dale Wishewan can be proud of the results of our survey as franchisees were eager to participate and keen on the system from start to finish.
In answer to the first question, Barry Byam, whose Booster Juice fresh fruit smoothie bar is located in Lethbridge, AB., says as with all entrepreneurial undertakings, there are growing pains but he says, "We are very excited! This business matches our lifestyle, it's an upbeat, healthy, energetic environment and Judy and I really like that aspect of the business.' Byam 's response to the profitability query was 'right on the money'. I'd like to point out that we started out in the slow season with very little operating capital; our profits are covering our expenses and we anticipate real growth this summer. We have not had to use our line of credit so far and I think that's huge! "Would we do it again? - we are!" says Byam. "Judy and I are buying into the system again in September on the south side of town."
The fruit capital of Canada, the Okanagan Valley, plays the perfect host to Sacha Kuettel's Kelowna Booster Juice operation and he reports a positive experience with his customers who love the idea of a convenient, refreshing, nutritious product. Opened only a few short months when Canadian Business Franchise spoke to him, he indicated that he was pleased with his buying decision, so pleased in fact; he's buying an additional two stores in Kelowna in the very near future! "Yes! I'm happy! We sell a great product, this is a fun business to operate. I have good staff, interesting customers and a healthy variety of products. I couldn't sell something I didn't believe in." Kuettel says he derives some of his satisfaction from the fact that he's only been in business a short time and he'll see profits in his first year. As far as a repeat performance goes, Kuettel anticipates that his two new stores will be open in time to reap profits from the huge number of tourists that infiltrate his part of the country each summer and predicts a healthy return on his investment.
