Golf Usa-sponsored Golfweek Fantasy Open Set To Begin

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (Friday, June 22, 2001) - Golf USA announced today that play is about to begin on a new round of the Golfweek Fantasy Golf Open. Golf USA has been the co-sponsor for the popular Golfweek game since it’s inception four years ago. The deadline for the eighth round of play will be June 27, 2001 for online entries. The deadline for phoned, faxed, or mailed entries has passed.

The game is a 12-week fantasy golf league created for golf fans to compete based on the performance of the top PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA players. "We''ve enjoyed being a sponsor for the game. It’s exciting to follow and the prizes are great," said Mike Henderson, Golf USA’s chief executive officer.

Golfweek’s Fantasy Golf Open’s grand prize is $10,000. The second place winner gets a choice between a 4 day, 3 night stay at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa or a 5 day, 4 night golf trip to Las Vegas (either choice includes golf, accommodations, and airfare for two). Third place receives the unclaimed option from the 2nd place prize choices. And, the fourth through tenth place winners receive a set of Tungsten MacGregor Irons. Every week the team with the highest earnings in each flight will win a dozen Top Flite Strata golf balls. Other prizes include drivers, golf bags, and golf shoes.
