Crocheters & Knitters Wanted To Assist With Snug Hugs For Kids Clothing Drive

GENEVA , IL (Wednesday, July 06, 2005) - Merlin Muffler & Brake is seeking volunteers who knit or crochet to participate in the ninth annual Crochet & Knit-A-Thon™ (CKAT) to benefit the fourteenth annual Snug Hugs for Kids™ winter clothing drive.

Hand-made items will be donated to young people, aged newborn to eighteen, who are served by Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois.

The items most needed include hats, mittens, scarves, sweaters, slippers, afghans, and baby items (blankets, caps, etc.).

The Crochet & Knit-A-Thon is one of the program components that support the larger Snug Hugs for Kids winter clothing drive that will begin November 1st and end December 6th, 2005.

CKAT Volunteers are also welcome to attend the one-day CKAT celebratory event on November 5 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church to drop off their items or spend time working on those items with others doing the same. Admission is free, and lunch will be provided to all participants courtesy of White Castle Restaurants.

Merlin’s Snug Hugs for Kids program is in its fourteenth year and is responsible for collecting more than 100 tons of new, gently-used, and hand-made children’s clothing.
