Fiducial To Once Again Collect Toys For Tots

COLUMBIA, MD (Monday, November 07, 2005) - This holiday season Fiducial’s company-owned stores will once again be serving as collection points for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

Local toy collection campaigns run through December 22 with members of the community dropping off new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes positioned in local businesses. Toy distribution follows on Dec. 23-24.

“Helping the Marine Corps Reserve make deserving children’s Christmas wishes come true is something that our Fiducial family is eager to do,” said Bill Morice, Fiducial’s director of field operations. “We look forward to contributing in every one of our locations.”

Fiducial Business Centers, Inc. hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations are welcome at any time during business hours. A complete list of participating Fiducial offices is located on the company’s website at www.fiducial.com/toysfortots.

Now in its 58th year, the Toys for Tots Program has brightened up the holidays for millions of youngsters yet the Marine Reserve’s job seems to get tougher every year. With the recent hurricanes leaving many families homeless, the Marines say the need for toys this year is greater than ever.

The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

The holidays are all about giving and this program is about giving something back to those less fortunate. As the Marines insist, it’s a very small thing to give a gift but on the receiving end it has a lasting impact on young kids.

Toys are collected not just for “tots” but for pre-teens and teens in the 10-14 age group who are a little beyond the toy truck, teddy bear and doll stages. There’s a need for sports equipment, am-fm radios, walkmans, wrist watches, curling irons and blow dryers for this age group. Though these aren’t toys, they are items kids that age want and need.

Among the hottest toys for 2005, according to leading toy publications, are Black Belts Karate Home Studio, a complete karate studio that helps younger kids learn the basics of karate at their own pace as they watch a 30-minute video on VHS or DVD; I-Dog, an animated electronic dog that features the iPod styling and dances along to whatever song it hears; Pixel Chix, a handheld gadget in the shape of a house that lets a child interact with an animated girlfriend to play games and change fashions; and Fly Wheels Assortment, an assortment of wheels which includes an array of stunt ramps, deluxe sets and rapid fire launchers.

Fiducial employees welcome the chance to make a difference this holiday season.

“Toys For Tots is a great program to participate in during the holiday season,” said Jessica Murphy, an administrative assistant at Fiducial’s Technical and Administrative Support Center (TASC) in Columbia , MD. “It makes you feel wonderful 'inside' to give presents to children who may have not received any presents otherwise. My recommendation is that everyone should be involved especially since it is the season for giving.”
