Peter Thomson Named Vice President And Chief Operating Officer Of Cruise Holidays

Broad Background in Travel Franchise Organizations Will Be a Key Asset

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Monday, June 27, 2005) - Carlson Companies’ Travel Franchise Group announced today that Peter Thomson has been named vice president and chief operating officer of Cruise Holidays, Carlson’s premiere network of cruise travel agencies in the U.S. and Canada. Peter comes to Carlson from American Express in Wilmington, Delaware, where he most recently served as Multinational Client General Manager. Thomson succeeds current vice president Kevin Weisner and will join Cruise Holidays effective July 25, 2005.

He has a very extensive background in the operations of a large, retail travel agency and has a unique understanding of the relationships between franchisee and franchisor,” said Roger E. Block, CTC, executive vice president of the Carlson Travel Franchise Group. “I have known Peter for many years and in this role I know he brings with him a single-minded dedication and a long-term commitment to the future success of Cruise Holidays.”

Thomson was with Rosenbluth International when it was acquired by American Express in 2003. Prior to that, he served on the management team of Travel Agents International (TAI) as the senior vice president responsible for all franchise services. Thomson was also a co-owner and chief operating officer of a Travel Agents International franchised office located in Torrance, California, served on the TAI Advisory Board for four years and was elected by his peers to serve two terms as the Chairman of the Advisory Board.
