National Fondue Restaurant Wins Wine Recognition

TAMPA, FLA (Tuesday, August 23, 2005) - The Melting Pot Restaurants Inc., the nation's largest fondue restaurant franchise, today announced that 37 of its locations across the country received Wine Spectator awards for their outstanding wine lists. This year, 36 of The Melting Pot's locations won the magazine's Award of Excellence and one location, Richmond, Va., received the Best of Award of Excellence.

"Each of The Melting Pot locations takes great care and pride in preparing an outstanding selection of fine wines," said Michael Maglin, vice president of concept development with The Melting Pot. "And for 37 of our independently owned and operated restaurants to be recognized by Wine Spectator magazine is a testament to the emphasis we place on our premier wine culture."

Wine Spectator judged its Award of Excellence winners on their commitment to a fine wine list, with a sufficient selection of better producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Award of Excellence winners typically offer at least 80 selections. The Best of Award of Excellence gives special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the basic category. These lists display vintage depth, vertical offerings of several top wines, excellent breadth from major wine growing regions, and typically 400 or more selections.

In addition to their award-winning wine lists, each of The Melting Pot's Wine Spectator award recipients boasts a large, glass-enclosed wine room as a focal point of the restaurant - and each wine room typically houses more than 600 bottles.
