The Melting Pot Surpasses $1 Million Giving Mark

TAMPA, FLA (Thursday, October 27, 2005) - Hundreds of employees of The Melting
Pot Restaurants Inc., America's largest fondue restaurant chain,
presented $615,000 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help
fight catastrophic childhood diseases. The October 19 contribution, the
finale of its Melting Barriers to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign,
brought The Melting Pot's two-year fund-raising total for St. Jude to
more than $1 million.

Since December 2004, The Melting Pot has held multiple fund-raisers to
benefit St. Jude. For each guest who purchased its Big Night Out fondue
dinner, the restaurant donated $1 to St. Jude. The Melting Pot's Fondue
a Cure for Childhood Cancer promotion featured its signature fondue
chocolate bar, and $1 of the purchase price per bar was given to the
hospital. Many of the company's restaurants also participated in
individual fund-raising efforts. Each location had the opportunity to
develop and host its own unique activity that benefited the hospital.
Among the events across the country were wine tastings, silent auctions,
casino parties and trivia nights.

"This has been a tremendous effort on the part of our team members and their guests," said Robert Johnston, president and chief operating
officer of The Melting Pot, during the company's annual franchisee
reunion that served as many employees' first trip to St. Jude. "Since I
first visited St. Jude, I have been hoping to bring the whole family of
franchisees here," Johnston said. "I am so proud of their passion and
commitment for St. Jude."

Dave McKee, chief operating officer for ALSAC/St. Jude, praised The
Melting Pot for its achievement. "The reason we are able to continue the
hospital's important life-saving work is because of companies like The
Melting Pot and its customers," McKee said. "The Melting Pot has
demonstrated an abiding love for children who need our help fighting
cancer and other catastrophic diseases. We are truly grateful for their
support of St. Jude's mission."

The Melting Pot will offer its Season of Giving menu from November 1 to
December 31 as part of St. Jude's Thanks and Giving promotion. Guests
can enjoy a uniquely seasoned four-course meal and give the gift of hopeto children facing deadly diseases. The Melting Pot's fund-raising goal through September 2006 is $1 million.
