Dickey's Barbecue Opens New Prototype

DALLAS , TX (Friday, March 25, 2005) - Dickey's has opened its newest prototype in south Fort Worth , TX . The free-standing building is 3,000 sq ft and requires about 30,000 sq ft of land. Building costs have been lowered by 30% from the previous design and land requirement have been reduced by 25%. Additionally, all costs associated with the back-of-house deemed unnecessary were removed.

Incorporated on the exterior is recycled brick, whole timber posts and worn metal awnings. With a metal roof, there is a mix of old and new. The interior includes a distressed wood serving counter, wood trim and antiques as décor. It seats 108. Dickey's has also incorporated vinyl photo wallpaper of images from Dickey's 64 year history.

The design is meant to reflect styling of the new South. “Its rustic sophistication”, says Roland Dickey, Jr., the company's vice president. “This store does great nestled in among a row of fast-food chains. Those places are so sterile compared to us”, Dickey continued. Sales at the new location are already exceeding expectations.
