Innovative Childrens Art Program Comes To City
New Service Offers Guided Expression for Kids, Seniors
COLUMBUS, OH (Monday, July 28, 2003) -
Youngsters in the Columbus region now have a fun new way to learn about drawing—and themselves. KidzArt, a unique arts enrichment program for children and seniors, has opened its newest branch in Columbus, OH.
KidzArt offers a unique guided creativity curriculum for kids, from preschoolers to teenagers. Classes are kept small, usually around 5-15 enrollees, to maximize the amount of attention paid to each student. The program teaches them how to express themselves—and gain greater self-confidence—through drawing. Absolutely no prior arts training experience is necessary for children to participate, and parents often notice results right away. Not only do kids bring home refrigerator-ready art, but a whole secondary set of skills as well.
I cant tell you how many thank-you letters weve gotten, boasts Chris Cruikshank, president of KidzArt. Of course, parents are impressed by the art that the kids are bringing home. However, many of our participants are also bringing home better grades and behavior reports as well. We help create character as well as art. This grassroots-level, home-based business has also been a blessing for the instructors. This is like a dream come true, says Kelly Council of Columbus KidzArt. I get to work with people in the community while still staying close to home with my own family. I see it as a great way to stay involved with my neighbors and local organizations. Classes can be held almost anywhere, from private homes to birthday parties, and can be integrated as part of an after-school program or homeschooling activities. Programs are available for seniors as well, and can be held at retirement homes or community centers.
Its an easy program for instructors to start and sustain, notes Shell Herman, founder of KidzArt. Our startup fees make us one of the lowest-entry-fee franchises out there—we even supply art materials for the first quarter. Its an ideal way to stay at home while still working and staying active in a business venture.
Overhead is extremely low as well (programs can be operated out of an instructors home), with quarterly expenses—for such items as liability insurance, phone lines, and other miscellaneous items—at around $250. Classes are forming now. To enroll or learn more about the KidzArt program, contact Kelly Council at (614) 985-0230 or via e-mail at kidzart4me@aol.com.

With 21 franchises nationwide and growing, KidzArt is bringing its nurturing, innovative activities to after-school programs, summer camps, birthday parties, and other venues.
