FRIENDLY'S COOKS UP THE COMFORTS OF HOME

WILBRAHAM, MA (Monday, October 24, 2005) - Delicious home style "comfort foods" that the whole family can enjoy are now being served up with a smile at Friendly's, just in time for the busy holiday season.

"These days when just about everyone seems to have too much to do, our new Comforts of Home meals, available through New Year's Day, offer a welcome day or evening break from the hustle and bustle," said Pete Bell, Senior Director, Brand Marketing for Friendly's. "And the free Happy-Ending® size sundae that tops off each of the six featured meals offers the perfect way to extend the fun for adults and kids alike."

Featured among the Comforts of Home are two new dishes and four timeless favorites:

Southwest BBQ Steak-Tender and tangy, this brand new meal includes a Choice sirloin steak with BBQ sauce, melted Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses, and scallions, served on top of Fronions, with mashed potatoes, garden vegetables and grilled garlic bread.

Grilled Teriyaki Chicken-Also new, this savory dish includes two grilled chicken breasts in a Teriyaki glaze, topped with ginger mayonnaise and melted mild white cheese, grilled pineapple and scallions, served on crunchy wonton strips with rice pilaf, mixed vegetables and garlic bread.

Cheddar Jack Chicken-Grilled chicken breasts smothered with hickory-smoked bacon, tomatoes, melted Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses and scallions, with rice pilaf, garden vegetables and grilled garlic bread.

New England Fish 'N Chips-A classic with tender tavern-battered cod fillets with golden fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce and lemon.

Grilled Flounder-Two flaky fillets of flounder, lightly breaded in lemon pepper seasoning, and served over rice with garden vegetables and grilled garlic bread.

Shrimp Basket-A half-pound feast of tender fried shrimp with crispy fries, tangy cocktail sauce, cole slaw and a lemon wedge.

When it comes to dessert, Friendly's new Mint Mud Slide ice cream offers melt-in-your -mouth flavor. With rich ribbons of chewy fudge, crushed chocolate cream cookies, and soft chocolate flavored chunks, topped off with hot fudge, whipped topping and a cherry, it makes the perfect sundae. Guests can turn any free Happy Ending Sundae into a three-scoop treat for just $1.50 more or a deliciously decadent ice cream extravaganza for only $2.50.
