FRIENDLY'S RAISES $127,000 FOR RED CROSS HURRICANE DISASTER RELIEF; COMPANY EMPLOYEES AND GUESTS JOIN TOGETHER IN AID EFFORT
WILBRAHAM, MA (Monday, November 21, 2005) -
The hurricane relief effort announced by Friendly's Restaurants in October has raised a total of $127,690 for the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund, company officials said today. On Oct. 5, hundreds of participating Friendly's locations in 16 states earmarked 100 percent of their profits to the fund, as part of the National Restaurant Association's Dine for America day.
In addition, for the past eight weeks, Friendly's locations have accepted disaster relief contributions from guests and employees, while employees at Friendly's Wilbraham, Massachusetts headquarters conducted their own fund-raising drive. Live radio broadcasts with popular radio personalities supported these efforts.
"On behalf of thousands of loyal guests, employees, and franchisees, Friendly's is very proud to be contributing more than $127,000 to the Red Cross relief effort. We know this generosity will make a powerful difference in the lives of many people who experienced the devastation of these terrible storms," said Ken Green, Vice President of Operations for Friendly's. "We hope that our contributions will enable the Red Cross to assist with the many challenges yet to come in the aid and restoration effort."
