Sport Clips Building in Bentonville, More Shops Planned

BENTONVILLE, AR (Wednesday, June 01, 2005) - Guys -- and girls -- who want to get their haircut while reading men's magazines, such as Cargo, or watch SportsCenter and a game can head to more Sport Clips locations planned in Northwest Arkansas.

Jeremy Baxter, franchiser and owner/team leader of Sport Clips, owns the shop in Fayetteville, near Kohl's and Target, and Clete Brewer owns a Rogers Sport Clips.

Baxter said Sport Clips soon will come to Bentonville at 1702 S. Walton Blvd., No. 2, in Commerce Center, a space Bentonville Butcher and Deli occupied before moving to its new building.

"We've had numerous clients request a Bentonville location," Baxter said.

Bentonville's Sport Clips will have approximately 1,900 square feet, a little larger than the average location, and 10 cutting chairs, two more than the eight normally allotted, Baxter said.

Approximately 15 employees will work at the Bentonville location, but Baxter said the balance of full-time and part-time employees will be determined later.

Baxter is spending approximately $150,000 to renovate and finish the Bentonville Sport Clips space, which will open in early October.

He won't stop there. Baxter said he plans to open a Sport Clips in spring 2006 at U.S. 412 and Jones Road in Springdale, in The Shoppes at Har-Ber Lakes; a second Sport Clips in Rogers, in the Tuscany Square shopping area on the east side of the intersection of Interstate 540 and Pleasant Grove Road; a location in Bella Vista or near the Missouri border; or a second Fayetteville location along Sixth Street.

Baxter said he plans to eventually own five to six Sport Clips franchises in Northwest Arkansas, where he owns the rights to develop. That could mean about 75 more jobs, with an average of 12 employees per shop, Baxter said.
