Road Race Expert Scott Pruett to Pilot GEICO / Sport Clips Dodge at The Glen
MOORESVILLE, NC (Tuesday, August 09, 2005) -
Biagi Bros. Racing is pleased to announce that road race ace, Scott Pruett, will drive the No. 4 GEICO/Sport Clips Dodge on Saturday as the NASCAR Busch Series returns to the 2.45-mile road course of Watkins Glen International Raceway for the first time since 2001. Pruett will lend his expertise to the Biagi Bros. race team in collaboration with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
Were really excited to have Scott Pruett driving for us at Watkins Glen, said car owner, Fred Biagi. He is an accomplished road course racer and has many years of racing under his belt. His experience and talent on road courses will definitely benefit our team. We are looking forward to contending for the win on Saturday!
In 2001, Pruett claimed the qualifying record in NASCAR Busch Series competition at The Glen when he paced the field with a lap of 1:12.861 seconds at a speed of 121.052 mph. Pruett will look to back-up that record in the No. 4 GEICO/Sport Clips Dodge when the Busch Series hits the track for qualifying at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, August 13th. Live coverage of qualifying will be broadcast on the SPEED Channel.
Sport Clips has stepped up as an associate sponsor of the No. 4 Dodge, joining GEICO and PetBrands for the weekend.
Pruett, a native of Sacramento, Calif., has had a diverse background in auto racing, grabbing championships in a variety of road racing classes, including the 2004 Grand-American Rolex Series Daytona Prototype Championship for car owner, Chip Ganassi. Pruett has also won titles in the SCCA Trans Am Series (1987 & 1994), IMSA GTO Series (1986 & 1988), and IMSA GT Enduro Series (1986). Pruett scored the Professional Karting Association World Title in 1981 and has also raced one full season in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series where he drove for PPI Motorsports in 2000.
Look for Scott Pruett in the No. 4 GEICO/Sport Clips Dodge on Saturday for the NASCAR Busch Series running of the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International Raceway. Live television coverage begins on NBC at 2 p.m. with radio coverage provided by MRN affiliates.
