GREEN INDUSTRY LEADER TO CHAIR THE IFA

HOLMDEL, NJ (Tuesday, February 11, 2003) - Russell J. Frith, President and CEO, Lawn Doctor, Inc., will officially be inducted as the chairman of the International Franchise Association (IFA) on February 18, 2003. Frith brings with him more than 30 years of franchising experience, the past 25 with Lawn Doctor, Inc. After joining the Lawn Doctor team in 1978 as franchise sales director, a position Frith held for two years, he was promoted to vice president of marketing. In 1982, Frith was promoted to executive vice president. After serving on Lawn Doctor’s board of directors, he was appointed to his current position as president and CEO in 1983. Under his leadership, Lawn Doctor’s has grown to become the largest franchised lawn care company in the country with over 425 locations.

Frith, who steps up to the chairmanship of IFA from the first vice-chairman’s position, also served as treasurer for the association for seven years. He has also been chairman of the association’s Convention Task Force, treasurer of its Educational Foundation and a member of the Finance Audit and Budget Committee. IFA is the world’s leading trade group and the only organization that represents both franchisors and franchisees. Franchised small businesses span 75 diverse industries and generate an estimated $1 trillion in U.S. retails sales annually.






Frith has also served on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Federal Pesticide Advisory Council and lectured at the Wharton School of Business. He is a past president of the Professional Lawn Care Association of America, and founding president of its education foundation. Additional accolades include his feature in Lawn and Landscape magazine’s "Franchise the Entrepreneurial Spirit" and Landscape Management magazine’s "Man of the Year," in 1993. In addition, Frith has recently been featured in Louisiana State University’s Franchising textbook.
Frith has also been chosen to serve on the Advisory Board for the William Rosenberg International Franchise Center by the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire and received Lawn and Landscape’s Leadership Award in 2000.
