Lawn Doctor Executive to Lead International Franchise Association

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (Friday, February 18, 2005) - Russell J. Frith, CFE, president and CEO of Lawn Doctor, today will become the chairman of the International Franchise Association (IFA). Frith heads an automated lawn care company that is headquartered in Holmdel, N.J.

IFA is the world’s leading trade group and the only organization that represents both franchisors and franchisees. Franchised small businesses span 75 diverse industries and generate an estimated $1 trillion in U.S. retails sales annually.

Frith, who steps up to the chairmanship from the first vice-chairman’s position, also served as treasurer for the association for seven years. He has also been chairman of the association’s Convention Task Force, treasurer of its Educational Foundation and a member of the Finance Audit and Budget Committee.

Frith brings more than 30 years of franchising experience to the organization’s top position. His interest in Lawn Doctor initially began as a customer. He joined Lawn Doctor in 1978 as franchise sales director, a position he held for two years until he was promoted to vice president of marketing.

In 1982, Frith was promoted to executive vice president. After serving on Lawn Doctor’s board of directors, he was appointed to his current position as president and CEO in 1983. Under his leadership, Lawn Doctor has grown tenfold. Today, the company has approximately 425 franchised units.

Frith has also served on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Federal Pesticide Advisory Council and lectured at the Wharton School of Business. He is a past president of the Professional Lawn Care Association of America, and founding president of its education foundation.
