Big O Tires Donates $65,000 To American Red Cross

(Friday, September 16, 2005) - A check for $65,000 was presented earlier this week at the headquarters of the American Red Cross from Big O Tires. The donation was provided to help fund Katrina relief efforts and was funded by the company’s over 560 franchisees as well as from Big O Tires, Inc. and its parent company, TBC Corp.

Greg Kimberlin, a Big O franchisee from the Lagrange, KY area, and chairman of the company’s Franchise Advisory Council presented the check on behalf of all the franchisees and the company while attending meetings in the Washington, D. C. area.

Kimberlin said, “All of us who work in the Big O Tires system were deeply moved by the difficult circumstances our citizens experienced from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. We support the efforts of the American Red Cross as they work to improve the lives of those who have literally lost everything.”

Karen Ogden the Development Officer of Disaster Fundraising for the American Red Cross accepted the check at their national headquarters.

The Big O franchisees who were in the Washington D.C. area for five days also participated in the Franchise Appreciation Days activities held in the nation’s capitol and sponsored by the International Franchise Association.

Big O Tires serves over 560 franchised stores, primarily in the Western and Midwestern states, and also distributes tires and other automotive service products to Associated Dealers in Western Canada. Since 1996, Big O Tires has operated as a subsidiary of Memphis-based TBC Corporation.
