Denny's Franchisees Prove Operations Focus, Business Success Go Hand in Hand

Operator of the Year Honors Awarded to U.S. and Canadian Franchisees

LAS VEGAS, NV (Wednesday, November 09, 2005) - Denny's (NASDAQ: DENN), the leading family dining chain, today announced the winners of the company's 2005 Operator of the Year awards during ceremonies at Denny's Franchisee Association convention in Las Vegas. The ninth annual convention occurs at a time when collectively Denny's franchise restaurants are ringing in their best sales results in over a decade. Franchisees in Oregon and Canada received the prestigious Operator of the Year award for their achievements in guest satisfaction and operations excellence.

Dencan Restaurants, Inc., of Vancouver, British Columbia, owned by Robert J. Gaglardi and Robert T. Gaglardi, and led by president and CEO Bobby Naicker, was named Operator of the Year for 2005 among franchises with five or more restaurants. The 2005 Operator of the Year award for franchises with fewer than five locations went to Paul Fox and Scott Hamilton, owners of Canby Denn, Inc., of Canby, OR. Restaurants owned and operated by these two franchisees scored highest among the chain's 1,034 franchised family-style restaurants based on their commitment to food safety, guest satisfaction and building the Denny's brand.

Dencan Restaurants, Inc. has been long recognized as a premier operator in the Denny's franchise network, leading the company's Canadian growth. Since opening the first unit in 1991, Dencan Restaurants has grown to 36 restaurants throughout Western Canada, employing more than 1,500 restaurant workers. A consistently strong performer, Dencan restaurants boast extremely high guest satisfaction scores among comparably large Denny's franchisees. Year-to-date sales performance for the Dencan group reflects positive increases with over 70 percent of the group's restaurants having earned the important corporate Four Diamond award for exceeding operating standards.

Fox and Hamilton joined the Denny's family almost four years ago with the February 2002 opening of their restaurant in Canby, Oregon. Known for their dedication to consistently fast, friendly service to guests, Fox and Hamilton's restaurant received Denny's Four Diamond award for exceeding operating standards every quarter for the past two years, and most recently achieved the highest President's Club award. The Canby restaurant also has consistently shown impressive growth, posting an impressive year-to-date sales increase of over 15 percent compared to 2004.
