In Honor of its 30th Anniversary, Fantastic Sams Seeks To Make 2004 a Record Year for Donations to Locks of Love Charity

BEVERLY, MA (Tuesday, February 17, 2004) - In honor of its 30th anniversary, Fantastic Sams®, the largest full-service hair care franchise, is hoping to break its own charitable record.

In the three years since Fantastic Sams has partnered with Locks of Love, a national non-profit organization that helps hundreds of financially disadvantaged children who suffer from long-term medical hair loss by providing them with custom-fitted hair prosthetics, more than $20,314 and 6,000 ponytails have been donated. This year, Fantastic Sams more than 1,300 franchises worldwide will pull together as "Fantastic Friends" to rake in a total of $30,000 and 12,000 ponytails for Locks of Love.

"We're a family-focused business and contributing to Locks of Love is our way of making everyone part of our family," said Jack Keilt, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fantastic Sams. "When a relative is unwell, a family rallies around in support. What we're trying to do is maintain that spirit on a much larger scale, encompassing every one of our franchises and every single Fantastic Sams customer-past, present and future."

Locks of Love has helped children regain their confidence with its prosthetic hairpieces, which require approximately four months to make. Each hairpiece is hand-assembled from human hair donations from all across the country, thanks to the publicity Locks of Love has received from newspapers, magazines and television programs. More than 80 percent of the donors are children, making this a charity where kids have the opportunity to help other kids.

They must be at least ten inches in length, bundled in a ponytail, clean and dry. These hairpieces are provided free of charge to kids under 18 who meet the organization's guidelines.
