In time for National Ice Cream Day on July 17, a new survey reveals that Americans love their ice cream, whether in a cup or a cone.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Thursday, July 15, 2004) -
Donald Trump prefers to eat ice cream in a cup; Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban likes it in a cone; and business mogul and Dairy Queen® investor Warren Buffett doesnt have a preference, as long as its a large serving of ice cream. In celebration of National Ice Cream Day on July 17th, a new survey commissioned by Dairy Queen reveals that regardless of how it is served, many Americans sure love ice cream. Administered by Harris Interactive®, the survey found:
Many Americans enjoy treating themselves to ice cream:
More than three in four (78 percent) eat ice cream at least once a month. On average, Americans eat ice cream about three times per month. Ice cream lovers have strong preferences when it comes to how they like to eat their ice cream. Of those adults who say they eat ice cream at least once a month:
About two-thirds (65 percent) prefer ice cream in a cup. More than one in four (28 percent) prefer ice cream in a cone. Seven percent were non-committal about cone or cup preference. Dipped coating or syrup is the topping of choice – more than half (53 percent) enjoy adding it to their ice cream. Dairy Queen has known for the past 64 years that just about everybody craves ice cream, despite the current low-carb craze, said Michael Keller, executive vice president of Marketing for International Dairy Queen, Inc. Ice cream is one of those great things in life that people are passionate about. We all have our favorite flavors and we know whether we prefer a cone or a cup. Ice cream is associated with good times and fun, which is what Dairy Queen stands for.
