Free Ice Cream Cones at Dairy Queen

Celebrate the last day of summer with a benefit for Children's Miracle Network

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Wednesday, August 04, 2004) - To celebrate the last day of summer, Dairy Queen® will host its second annual Free Cone Day on Tuesday, September 21 to benefit Children's Miracle Network. The free 5 oz. vanilla ice cream cones will be served at participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill® locations nationwide.

"This gives us another wonderful opportunity to show customers our appreciation and at the same time, collect donations for a great cause in Children's Miracle Network," said Chuck Mooty, president and CEO of International Dairy Queen, Inc.

Each year, Children's Miracle Network hospitals treat 17 million children afflicted with diseases, injuries and birth defects of every kind. All of the funds raised locally stay in the community in which they were collected. The Dairy Queen system has been a national sponsor of Children's Miracle Network since 1984, raising more than $50 million during that time.

Free Cone Day Facts
Dairy Queen hopes to top last year's Free Cone Day when more than 721,000 cones were handed out and more than $75,000 raised for Children's Miracle Network:

721,000 = 28,164 gallons of Dairy Queen's signature vanilla soft serve.

If these cones were put end to end, they would stretch for 37 miles or the length of 651 football fields.
