Dairy Queen® Introduces Double Fudge Cookie Dough as Blizzard® of the Month for August.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Monday, August 01, 2005) - Throughout August, Dairy Queen® will offer an exciting new Blizzard® flavor as its featured Blizzard of the Month.

Adding a new twist to one of its top selling Blizzard Flavor Treats, Dairy Queen introduces the Double Fudge Cookie Dough Blizzard, available in August at all Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill® locations nationwide.

Dairy Queen Blizzards were first introduced in 1985 and quickly became the company’s most popular signature treat. Since that time, billions of Blizzards in 75 different flavors have been sold with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ranking in the top five fan favorites.

"We are always adding something different to our menu or a new twist to a traditional favorite," said Michael Keller, chief brand officer for International Dairy Queen. "This new Blizzard flavor gives our customers more of what they crave."

In 1991, the flavor phenomenon of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in ice cream was created, combining chocolate chip cookie dough with ice cream and semi-sweet chocolate chips. In 1992, DQ took the flavor one step further by adding it to the iconic Blizzard.

"This is an extraordinary combination of flavors," said Keller. "We’ve created a summertime treat that will be a home run with Blizzard fans."

The Double Fudge Cookie Dough Blizzard, a richer version of the traditional Cookie Dough Blizzard, is made with thick chunks of luscious double chocolate chip cookie dough and blended with rich cocoa fudge and creamy DQ soft serve. Customers can sweeten the flavor with extra cookie dough for a nominal price. Average retail price for a 12 oz. is $2.39; 16 oz. is $2.80; and 21 oz. is $3.30.

Dairy Queen introduced a featured Blizzard of the Month in 2003 to spotlight new and current flavors. During this year’s 20th birthday celebration of the Blizzard, new and exciting flavors such as Double Fudge Cookie Dough will be added to the menu.
