Dairy Queen® Introduces Healthy Options for Kids Meals
Applesauce and Milk are now available as alternative options for kids meals.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Thursday, August 11, 2005) -
Dairy Queen®, one of the undisputed leaders in the quick service industry, has introduced healthy options for kids meals by offering applesauce as an alternative to French fries or potato chips and 2% milk as a drink option.
Available at all participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill® locations nationwide, this is the first of several planned kids healthy choice alternatives to be added to the menu.
"We continue to carefully monitor demand and response in our restaurants for healthier meal options for children," said Patty Halvorson. "The trend has been to offer menu choices to promote healthier eating habits for kids. We are always striving to add new and different food items to our menu and now weve added healthier choices for kids to the mix."
Halvorson explains that this is Dairy Queens initial launch of healthy options for kids. "This summer, we have been testing several other menu alternatives for kids, including additional fruit and beverage choices."
On the treat side, Dairy Queen also offers DQ Fudge Bars, DQ Vanilla Orange Bars and DQ Vanilla Raspberry Bars that are sugar free, fat free and gluten free, particularly important for those with wheat allergies.
