Thousands of Children Break from Summer Vacation to Compete in International Math Challenge
Young Math Minds Test Their Abilities - $75,000 in Scholarships Awarded
TEANECK, NJ (Tuesday, July 05, 2005) -
Teaneck, NJ (July 5, 2005) The Kumon Math Challenge is an annual summer competition for children to challenge their math skills and win scholarships totaling $75,000 awarded by Kumon Math and Reading Centers. The event is open to the public and takes place at 33 universities across the United States and Canada. The purpose of the event is to motivate children to develop their math skills and practice taking a test in a university environment.
When: Sunday, July 10, 2005 11 a.m.- all times are local
Who: The event is open to children presently in grades 1-10. More than 10,000 children from across North America participated last year.
Where: The competition takes place at 33 universities across the United States and Canada. (See U.S. list below)
Scholarship: The top 10 students in each grade will be awarded scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,500. In total, $75,000 in scholarships will be awarded.
Cost: $17 per student, all participants will receive a free gift.
