Kumon Math And Reading Centers Announces Expansion & First-ever National Advertising Campaign In North America

TEANECK, NJ (Monday, March 08, 2004) - Kumon Math and Reading Centers, a supplemental education program, announces plans to open 200 new centers in the United States and Canada this year. This marks the greatest expansion in the company's 20-year North American history. In addition to this growth, Kumon will kick off a $9 million national advertising and re-branding campaign to unveil its new worldwide logo and corporate identity.

Kumon's new print and broadcast advertisements will introduce the "Let Your Child Amaze You" campaign featuring the new, hand-drawn "Thinking Face" logo which reflects Kumon's philosophy that every child possesses unlimited potential.

"Parents are driving the education sector," said Mark Mele, assistant vice president of franchising for Kumon. "Our franchise inquiries have been on the rise because parents want to make sure their children are prepared for college and the higher demands of today's work force. Our low-cost franchise also makes it more affordable for educators and professionals seeking an entrepreneurial opportunity in education."

Kumon opened its first office in North America 20 years ago with 16 centers and 1,051 students. Today, Kumon has more than 1,490 centers and 150,000 students enrolled across the continent.
