Scarborough Faire® Pirates and Long John Silver's® raise more than $12,000 for Make-A-Wish during "Mutiny Mondays".
LOUISVILLE, KY (Monday, June 06, 2005) -
Thanks to Long John Silvers® and a band of local buccaneers, the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of North Texas recently received a check for more than $12,000.
The money was raised during Mutiny Mondays in May at Dallas-area Long John Silvers restaurants. Each Monday, the popular Pirates of the Scarborough Faire® renaissance festival made appearances at local Long John Silvers restaurants.
While there, the Pirates entertained customers, posed for photos and bought drinks for everyone in attendance. Long John Silvers donated a percentage of all gross sales between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Mutiny Mondays to Make-A-Wish. When the last mug of grog was drunk and the last pirate posed for photos, the total donation for Make-A-Wish was $12,028.60.
Mutiny Mondays at Long John Silvers were a great success, said Roger Menchaca, Long John Silvers Region Coach. Our customers and employees embraced their inner Pirates, and we raised a lot of money for a great cause. A lot of kids in and around Dallas will benefit from this effort.
The restaurants that participated in Mutiny Mondays included the Long John Silvers locations in Dallas, Arlington, Fort Worth, Denton, Lake Worth, Waxahachie, Richardson, Corsicana, Lewisville, Irving, Garland, Paris, Weatherford, Grapevine, Allen, Seagoville, Euless, Pantego, Terrell, Mesquite, Grand Prairie, DeSoto, Palestine, Plano, McKinney, North Richland Hills, Roanoke, Carrollton, Rowlett, Granbury, Cleburne and Sherman.
Long John Silvers was a sponsor of the 2005 Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival, a recreated 16th century English Village in the time of King Henry VIII. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work.
