Liberty Tax Service tops major competitors in performance

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Friday, April 01, 2005) - Liberty Tax Service is the number one fastest growing branded tax service this season. The company opened 311 new offices in 2005, and realized a 35% increase in tax returns with 142,000 more prepared as of March 31, 2005 than the same date in 2004. In contrast, the largest tax service, H&R Block (NYSE:HRB), opened over 1300 new offices and has experienced less than .1% growth in number of tax returns prepared during the same time period.

Liberty was named as “Leader in Tax” in the March issue of Accounting Today magazine. Accounting Today also named Hewitt one of the accounting profession’s top 100 most influential people for 4 consecutive years .
