Liberty Tax Service is open every minute until the end of tax season

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Monday, May 16, 2005) - Can’t sleep thinking about last minute tax filing? Neither can Liberty Tax Service preparers! As time ticks away until the April 15 th deadline, participating Liberty Tax Service offices are open every minute that’s left in this tax season. Liberty’s “End of Tax Season Slumber Party” gets underway with 24-hour service available April 14 th until midnight April 15 th. Participating Liberty Tax Service offices in 50 states and the District of Columbia will be open around the clock.

Taxpayers have some choices if they owe. Those who choose to file an extension can file Form 4868 by April 15, 2005. This will extend the tax filing deadline to August 15 th. By filing an extension in April, you postpone the time that your tax information is due to the IRS.

“This is an extension of time to file information, not an extension of time to pay any federal taxes that are due,” said John Hewitt, CEO and President of Liberty Tax Service. “Penalty and interest charges accrue on tax liability starting April 16 th.”

What can someone do who owes the IRS money, but can’t pay the full amount by April 15 th? Taxpayers may pay by credit card, or can ask the IRS for permission to make monthly installment payments. Those not currently on an installment payment plan can complete Form 9465, Installment Agreement Request, and attach it to the front of the return.
