The first Bear Paddle Swim School opened in 2009 in Aurora, Illinois. The Illinois community hadn't ever seen a dedicated learn-to-swim facility like Bear Paddle. Over the next few years, the business opened more locations in Illinois and expanded into Ohio, Kentucky, and New Jersey. By 2017, Bear Paddle Swim School had 10 corporate owned stores with over 50,000 swimmers. The Bear Paddle team focused on culture consistency, swim lesson quality, and operational efficiency to ensure they were able to maintain and exceed the quality throughout different markets.
