The first Wellesley Inn opened in 1984. Wellesley Inn & Suites Franchising Inc.'s parent corporation, Prime Hospitality Corp., has been in the hotel business since 1985 and assumed sole control over Wellesley Inn in 1996. Prime Hospitality also operates AmeriSuites full-service hotels and HomeGate Studios and Suites extended-stay hotels. In 1999, Prime Hospitality merged HomeGate with Wellesley Inn, and the combined chain now has more than 70 locations across the United States. Wellesley Inn is based in Fairfield, New Jersey.
