Custom closet design, manufacture and installation

California Closets was founded in 1978. In 1994, Anthony Vidergauz, current president and CEO, purchased the company from Williams-Sonoma after its four-year ownership. In October 1998, an agreement was made with FirstService Corporation of Toronto (NASDAQ: FSRV) and its franchise division, The Franchise Company, for controlling interest in the company.

In 2003, California Closets marked 25 years of business at a reception co-hosted by Architectural Digest. More than 200 franchise owners, designers, architects and media representatives gathered to celebrate their long partnership.
