The first Cottman Transmission Center opened in 1962 on a street named Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia, PA. That center, which almost four decades later is still in operation and continuing to meet the needs of its customers, was a leader and a pioneer in the creation of the concept of the transmission specialist.

As the automatic transmission came into increased use and prominence, the need for this type of automotive specialization increased, and so did the number of Cottman centers. Over the years, Cottman Transmission has been the industry leader in the use of the cutting-edge technology and procedures necessary to repair today's increasingly complex transmissions.

Cottman continues to develop innovative programs to benefit the consumer, such as free after hours towing assistance, a toll-free dealer locator service, and our free exclusive Transcheck 21 PLUS service including an electronic scan. There are currently over 350 Cottman Transmission Centers in 40 states, Canada, and Venezuela. Fifty more Cottman centers are projected to open this year.
